DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Unsigned Iowa 940 begins at a junction with Iowa 2 approximately 8 miles west of the City of Centerville and proceeds southeasterly to another junction with Iowa 2 approximately 6 ¾ miles west of the City of Centerville and from a point in Section 33‑T69N‑R18W approximately 2 miles west of the City of Centerville east to a junction with Iowa 2 approximately 1 ¾ miles west of the City of Centerville and from a point in Section 35‑T69N‑R18W approximately ½ mile west of Centerville easterly to the west corporation line of the City of Centerville.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑940‑0 (2)‑‑2M‑4, between Appanoose County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred Unsigned Iowa 940 from near the N ¼ Corner of the SE ¼ of Section 28‑T69N‑R19W southeasterly to a junction with Iowa 2 approximately 200 feet north of the NW Corner Section 35‑T69N‑R18W and from a point approximately 1020 feet west of the NW Corner Section 34‑T69N‑R18W easterly to a junction with Iowa 2 approximately 600 feet east and 100 feet north of the NW Corner Section 34‑T69N‑R18W; and from a junction with Iowa 2 near the N ¼ Corner of the NW ¼ of the NE ¼ of Section 35‑T69N‑R18W northeasterly and southeasterly to Iowa 2 near the S ¼ Corner NE ¼ Section 35‑T69N‑R18W to county jurisdiction on August 6, 1980.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Unsigned Iowa 940 in Appanoose County from the primary road system.

Remove Unsigned Iowa 940 in Appanoose County as follows:

Beginning approximately at a point in the N ¼ Corner of the SE ¼ Section 28‑T69N‑R19W; thence southeasterly through Sections 28, 27‑T69N‑R19W to a point on the section line of 34‑T69N‑R19W approximately 1366 feet west of the NW Corner of Section 35‑T69N‑R19W; thence east following the section line of 34‑T69N‑R19W to the NW Corner of Section 35‑T69N‑R19W; thence north approximately 185 feet following substantially west section line of Section 35‑T69N‑R19W connecting with Iowa 2.

Beginning again at another point approximately 1020 feet west of the NW Corner 34‑T69N‑R18W; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Section 33‑T69N‑R18W the NW Corner of Section 34‑T69N‑R18W with a spur to connect with Iowa 2.

Beginning again from another point on Iowa 2 at Station 557+61.0 near the N ¼ NW ¼ NE ¼ Section 35‑T69N‑R18W; thence northeasterly and southeasterly to P.O.C. Station 987+94, 131 feet from the corporation line of the City of Centerville near the S ¼ Corner of the NE ¼ of Section 35‑T69N‑R18W.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Beginning approximately at a point in the N ¼ Corner of the SE ¼ Section 28‑T69N‑R19W; thence southeasterly through Sections 23, 27‑T69N‑R19W to a point on the section line of 34‑T69N‑R19W approximately 1366 feet west of the NW Corner of Section 35‑T69N‑R19W; thence east following the section line of 34‑T69N‑R19 to the NW Corner of Section 35‑T69N‑R19W; thence north approximately 185 feet following substantially west section line of Section 35‑T69N‑R19W connecting with Iowa 2.

Beginning again at another point approximately 1020 feet west of the NW Corner 34‑T69N‑R18W; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Section 33‑T69N‑R18W the NW Corner of Section 34‑T69N‑R18W with a spur to connect with Iowa 2.

Beginning again from another point on Iowa 2 at Station 557+61.0 near the N ¼ NW ¼ NE ¼ Section 35‑T69N‑R18W; thence northeasterly and southeasterly to P.O.C. Station 987+94, 131 feet from the corporation line of the City of Centerville near the S ¼ Corner of the NE ¼ of Section 35‑T69N‑R18W.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Unsigned Iowa 940 in Appanoose County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon adoption of this resolution.
